Things are going well in the Thompson house. Adjusting to 3 was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It's been fun having Bridger and all things new baby! I just love all the cute little stretches and yawns, the smiles and coos, and seeing his big brother and sister interact with him.
He decided to follow in his big brothers footsteps and have a very slow weight gain for the first few weeks. At 3 weeks he weighed 7lbs 9.5 ozs. Which is just an ounce and a half over his birth weight. Up to that point we had lots of weight check appointments, one where he only gained 1/2 ounce in a week. We aren't 100% sure, but he may also have the dreaded milk protein allergy that we've dealt with in both kids, luckily we don't think he has acid reflux like Gracen and Brynlee did.
Bridger gave us his first real smile on February 3rd. I had just come home from a weight check and fed him, when he was done eating he started to smile and even made a few cooing sounds. He smiles and talks all the time now and we just love all the little sounds he makes!
On February 22nd Bridger had his one month well check. He has a busy doctor and wasn't able to get in until he was 6 weeks old. His stats for this visit were:
Weight: 9lbs 4.5ozs 40-50th percentile
Length: 22 1/4 inches 75th percentile
Head Circumference: 15 3/8 inches 75th percentile
He sleeps pretty good, usually he'd sleep from 8 or 9 pm until about 1 or 2 am and then wake up again around 5 or 6 am. Last night he slept from 8 to 4 am and woke up again at 7. Not too bad! I think he's well on his way to sleeping all night. At least I hope!
Here are some pictures from the last few weeks...
First baby pictures. I didn't get him in until he was 4 weeks because he ended up getting a bit jaundice after a couple days, then that cleared up and a couple days after it cleared up he got breast milk jaundice. I've never heard of it, but he was up to 17 or 19, I can't remember. He had to have the phototherapy lights, luckily it was just a little light we had to slip under his shirt and place on his back. We had to take him in a few times to have it checked and it finally cleared up after a couple weeks. We didn't want him to be so yellow in the pictures so we waited. It was fun getting some with him awake and some with him asleep.
Bundled up to take sis to the bus stop.
Little Stretches.
2 days after his 1st smile. This is the first one I got on camera.
My mom bought him this cute little doctor outfit. I took these pictures and emailed Nate some and he called me soon after to let me know I got the hat on backwards,(it's supposed to tie in the back). Well, it doesn't go any other way, the other side has a seam running down it. It kinda looks like a bow is on his head. I meant to take more pictures of him in it without the tie (bow?) but haven't gotten around to it yet!
He is such a sweet baby, rarely cries. Most of the time he grunts when he is waking up at night to eat.
I can't get enough of those sweet little smiles!
Brynlee loves making him smile!
Bridger's first day of church.
I love these 3 adorable kiddos!
Brynlee has been doing great! At the end of the year, she was moved into the advanced reading group at school. She has learned all of her Kindergarten sight words and about half of the first grade sight words. She loves to read! It amazes me how quickly she is learning and growing. I look at her sometimes and see a lot of me in her. She is my girl and I love her to pieces!
Last week she got to bring home Kinderbear. Everyone in her class gets to have him (or her?) for a week. She had fun dressing him up and playing with him!
I had to put this on here...a boy (Tanner) in Brynlee's class drew this for her last week. They grow up too fast! Do crushes really start in Kindergarten?? If I remember right, when I was that age boys were YUCKY!
She's a cute girl...had no idea why her daddy and I both said, "OOOH, Brynlee!"
We were teasing of course!
March 2nd was Dr. Suess' birthday! We celebrated by eating green eggs and ham for dinner. The kids thought that was pretty fun. Gracen said, "It was just green eggs and ham, mom, not toast!"
Gracen has been my big helper! He is still very much a 3 year old and we have our daily battles, but most of the time he is so much fun! I love talking to him. He has so much to say. He still loves dinosaurs and can name quite a few of them. Every time we go to the library he wants a book about dinos. He is such a sweet boy!
During the baby's first week home, I started to find these cabinet locks placed on some of our doors.
Gracen was baby proofing. He didn't want Bridger to get out!
Things couldn't be better! I'm just soaking up every minute I can of this new baby...sadly it's already going too fast. He's 8 weeks tomorrow!
