Back in my college days I took a psychology class. I remember one class in particular where the professor was teaching about stages of children's development. We had a class where children were brought in and asked to do different things to show how at different ages their understanding of the way things work was very different.
I specifically remember her talking about egg head drawings. That when children are learning to draw people they will draw large heads with arms and legs extending out of it. I thought it was pretty funny, and quite cute, as I had never heard of this, or seen this before.
Not long after that class, I was at my mom's house with my sister and we were going through a box of papers that my mom saved from when we were younger. I pulled out a little booklet of 4 or 5 papers stuck together with a staple and on the front it said "My Family."
It was some of my sisters preschool drawings of our family. Eggheads with long arms and legs extending out of it! We were quite amused by this. I remember turning the pages and laughing at how she drew everyone. It was cute, it was funny, and I believe there were a few tears shed due to laughing so hard!
So here I am now, the mom of a very cute 4 year old, and she was drawing our family picture last month. It was so fun to see her at this stage of development. Drawing us as egg heads! She was so proud of her drawing, very particular about who would be what color, and wanted me to help her spell out everyones name and the words "My Family".
I must say, my hair is looking good!!
Thanks Brynlee, for letting me be your mom!! I love every minute of it!
