I couldn't believe it, but I about cried today when we gave brynlee a haircut. I have considered having it cut before, but quickly talked myself out of it. Nate had mentioned a few times, earlier this summer, that we should cut it short and I thought it was a bad idea. Brynlee didn't want to either. I just love her long, blonde, wavy hair, and it is also so easy to do.
Brynlee has some issues with summertime and eczema, and the long hair wasn't helping the situation. She gets a rash on the back of her neck and shoulders and scratches like crazy. My first solution was to put her hair in a ponytail or pigtails every day to keep it off her neck. Of course most days she would pull it out or it would fall out and we were back to the problem of her being too hot with her long hair. So this morning when we were getting her ready and I pulled her hair up I noticed that her rash was starting to get bad again, about an hour later her hair was pulled out of the pigtails, and she was sweating. I decided then that we better get her hair cut.
I dreaded it all morning and afternoon, serious sadness about this.
I have no idea why I am so attached to her hair. I am not at all attached to mine, and I have never cried over it before. So after naps were over we went in and had it cut. We wanted to see if it is long enough to donate and when I told the hairdresser that, she asked how short we wanted it. I told her about to her chin or jawline. She asked me if I was going to cry... I had to kinda laugh inside about that while at the same time I was holding back the tears. I told her I would be okay and then she took the scissors to it. And this is what we got...
She lost 9 inches of hair, we are going to try to donate it to Pantene, they will accept it if it is 8 inches or longer.
She seems to be okay with it.
And she still looks so beautiful...I really do like it! It turned out really cute and will be so much better for her this summer to stay cool. When we came home and I was styling it a little she looked in the mirror and said "I want my long hair back." I told her that we could let it grow long again and that it would be nice and cool for her this summer. She has been okay with it ever since.
Side view... I asked her if we could trade hair, and she said in her "silly mommy" tone of voice, "No, it won't come off to trade". I am happy for her that she didn't inherit my flat hair.

Glad y'all got to Sandusky safe and are all moved in! You'll have to post pics of your new place, I'd love to see it!
Hope you're having a great weekend, we miss you here in IA already!
Oh my goodness! She looks so grown up with her new hair cut! I love it! I didn't realize how long her hair had got! I would have cried too!
That is the CUTEST hair cut. She looks adorable and I can understand about not wanting to cut the girls' hair. But so adorable. I love the background as well!!
I love Brynlee's hair cut. She looks super cute and it seems to be a lot cooler of a cut. The best thing about hair is that it grows back. Her hair cut makes her look a lot older.
Oh it is too cute! I totally understand the tears though! I LOVE IT!!!
so I just have to give my opinion, How stinking cute is her hair. I did not realize how long it had gotten. You are a super brave mom, I probably would have cried at my baby girls first real haircut. She looks so cute.
